Who is entitled

If you are the spouse, civil partner or dependent child of a member of the Scheme, you may be eligible to receive benefits in the event of the member’s death.

The benefits you may be entitled to will depend on what status the member was at the time of their death.

If the member was an active member of the Scheme, click here for more information. An active member is someone still employed by MRC and actively making contributions to the Scheme; they may also be on long-term sick leave.

If the member was a deferred member of the Scheme, click here for more information. A deferred member is someone who used to be a member of the Scheme, but has left either the Scheme or the employment of MRC and is no longer contributing.

If the member was a pensioner member of the Scheme, click here for more information. A pensioner member is someone who is receiving an income from the Scheme.
