Notifying a death
If you need to notify us of the death of member, you can call Mercer on 01372 200 275 (Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.30pm, except bank holidays) to let us know.
Once we have been notified, we will write to the person dealing with the members’ affairs with some forms that need to be completed, and we will also need to see an original death certificate.
If there is a spouse or civil partner, we will need to see their original birth certificates, as well as original marriage or civil partnership certificates.
We will also need to see original birth or adoption certificates for any children who are eligible for a child’s pension.
We would recommend that original certificates are sent to us by Royal Mail Special Delivery, and they will be returned in the same way.
